December 9 - Colossians 1:24-4:18

Good morning everyone,

Colossians 3:1-4 says, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”

Paul was never satisfied to simply give the right teaching to the people of God, he wanted to see it change their lives. He wanted to see a new nature by accepting Christ, regarding the earthly nature as dead. Letting heaven be their goal, not worldly possessions. “For you “died to this life” means we should have little desire for improper worldly pleasure as, oh let’s say, a dead person would have. Right?

It can be hard, very hard indeed, to keep focused on God and our life in Christ especially in today’s world where we are inundated with screens of all shapes and sizes to allow us more games, programming, “friends” and yes, trash then a day has hours for. All the time I have the enemy saying to me, “Oh, remember how you really use to enjoy that?” and “Well, so and so seems to be doing quite well watching and reading those types of entertainment.” “ Hear that ding? Who texted you?” We have become slaves to our screens. And while screens, in and of themselves are not bad, we can not let them control our lives or the lives of our children. It is possible to keep the Main Thing the main thing.

Psalm 46:10 tells us, “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” James 1:22, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” Friends, to become new in Christ you must leave your old ways behind. I am not suggesting trashing all computers, tablets and phones. No, only that you spend more time in God’s Word, getting to know Him, honoring your Abba then you do Tweeting, Words with Friendsing, Facebooking or any other screen activity. Make sense? Try, just try giving God equal time reading His Word or praying that you allow your screen.

God loves you, so much He sent His only Son to be nailed on a cross to die for your sins. Please don’t take it for granted, don’t get caught up in and waste your time here on earth with something that has so little eternal value. Set your minds on things above, allow your life to be changed by Christ. Amen?

Have a great day and to God be the glory.

God bless you all …..
