December 7 - Ephesians 3:1-5:14

Good morning everyone,

Ephesians 3:17-21, “For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

I love prayer. I love praying for my family, friends and even those who have no idea who I am, who are in trapped in situations where God’s intervention is the only hope they have. In Ephesians 3 Paul is on his knees before the Father, our Abba, praying for the family of God which would include all who have believed in Him in the past, all who believe in the present and all who will believe in our heavenly Father in the future. We are all family and as a family we need to stay connected. There is strength and power in meeting together for worship, teaching, fellowship but especially prayer. 

With just a few weeks left in this year I would encourage you make a goal, a “New Year’s resolution” if you will, to be a dedicated pray person for your church family in 2015. Start planning now for how you can be praying for them. You could be praying they have a hunger for the Bible. We should desire to be likeminded in Christ and in order to achieve that, then the church must be reading their Bibles. Right? We could also be praying for thankfulness. Seeking real joy in God because of what He has done for us in Christ. Other suggestions would be, holiness and unity. Pray for your pastors, lay persons and worship teams. They see more spiritual attack in a week then most do in an entire year. Perhaps you have some of your own thoughts on what to pray for and that’s awesome! It does not matter which direction you choose to go in your prayer, just that you go. Praying for your church is like filling a balloon with helium, the more it is filled, the more it will soar and not sore! (too corny?)

1 Timothy 2:1 says, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people.” Prayer is our key to God's door unleashing His power so that he is able to work in our behalf. Make sense? Prayer is our lifeline to God! One of the hardest things to believe is that God is intimately involved in our lives when everything is going wrong in our life. But what prayer does is transform doubt into trust. Amen?
