January 13 - Genesis 36:1-19, 1 Chronicles 1:35-37, Genesis 36:20-30, 1 Chronicles 1:38-42, Genesis 36:31-43, 1 Chronicles 1:43-2:2

Good morning everyone,

2 Timothy 3:16 says, “ All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Every book in the book in the Bible, every chapter, sentence and word in every book was inspired by God. So while a genealogy from a family line 4000 years ago may seem like pretty dry reading to you and to to me, let us try remembering God put it there for a reason and ask Him to reveal it to us. To open our eyes and hearts for what we can learn while twisting our tongues over the names that are very unfamiliar to us.

The genealogy we are looking at today is that of the family of Esau. Esau, who is also called Edom, is the picture of the you and me before we met Christ. He portrays the old selfish, sinful nature that demands to be satisfied.

Esau settled across the Jordan River in the southern area directly east of the Promised Land known as Edom where they would eventually make their living by agriculture and trade. They took wives from the women of Canaan and lived a life worshiping pagan gods. Not good.

There would always be bad blood between the Israelites and Esau’s descendants. But because they were indeed close relatives, God forbid the Israelites tho hate the Edomites despite the many times they attacked Israel and caused her grief.

Like the Israelites, we too should love those who torment us or cause us pain. Matthew 5:44 says, “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Romans 12:14, “Bless those who persecute you. Don't curse them; pray that God will bless them.” Did you get that? Pray that God will bless them. Let God do your battles for you and trust in His perfect will that will be done. Amen?

Have a great day and to God be the glory.

God bless you all …..
