January 4 - Genesis 11:1-26, 1 Chronicles 1:24-27, Genesis 11:27-31, Genesis 12:1-14:24

Good morning everyone,

We started our reading today with the Tower of Babel. The people of the earth had become skilled in construction and under the direction of Nimrod, decided to build a city with a tower that would reach to heaven. By building the tower they wanted to make a name for themselves and also prevent their city from being scattered. Ummm …. sounds like pride to me.

Then two of my favorite words, “But God” came down to see the city and the tower the people were building and He said, “Yea ….. no! That’s not happening” (paraphrased) and made changes, scattering the people all over the earth. But check it out, in verse 7 God says, “Come, let us go down.” Notice the “us”? Once again, we see it is not God the Father alone. Though it does not say His name, Jesus was right there from the very beginning, with God the Father loving us, guiding us.

Also today we traveled about with Abram a bit, who we know, God will later change his name to Abraham, right? What I love about this guy, what especially stood out to me today is; Abraham is going to be one of God’s main men, his legacy will live on forever and ever and yet …. and yet he is no different than you or I. He was just a man who made human errors in judgement, poor choices. Before God came to him, Abram had no spiritual understanding. He had no knowledge of the true God. He was bumbling through life, going with the flow of the worldly, pagan environment. Yet God saved him by grace. he took the blinders from Abrams eyes and showed him a better path.

Six times in the first seven verses of Genesis 12 God says “I will.” “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you;I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

That’s the way it is with each one of us. When God initially enters our life, it’s not because we invited Him, but because He has chosen us and has drawn each one of us to Himself. 1 John 4:10 says, “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us.” He loved us first. Make sense?

God’s will is a relationship with us. The Bible says God is at work in everyone’s life. “So that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.” Right? So whether the father of all nations, the single mom, the lonely dad away at work, the gangster, the cheerleader or anyone at al,l God loves you and desperately wants you to know Him.

Matthew 7:11 says, “You can enter God's kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gate to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few find it.” Choose to be one of the few. Amen?

Have a great day and to God be the glory.

God bless you all …..
